Education this Pandemic

According to the Education Unite, "Quality education provides the foundation for equity in society. Quality education is one of the most basic public services. It not only enlightens but also empowers citizens and enables them to contribute to the maximum extent possible to the social and economic development of their communities." COVID-19 approached us and had to force the closing of classes last March 2020. The Department of Education imposed the opening of classes last October 5, 2020.

The force opening of classes this pandemic made the youth begged for Academic Freeze because not all has the privilege to afford online classes and not everyone has a good environment for learning. Covid-19 is new and foreign to all of us, the loneliness and separation that we now face mental disorder that continues to be a pervasive issue in the world well in fact, a factor that education is hard to balance because of the issues of one's self. The pandemic has exacerbated and exposed prevailing socio-economic disparities and the government's safety nets. So far, the Filipinos have been surviving on regular earnings, and have been struggling to provide food on their tables. Quality Education they say, not everyone is treated fairly. Does this mean that education only serves the privilege ones? It is too sad to face reality that this type of new normal has made thousands of teens depressed and has no will to study. Each student is gifted, has different personalities and have different ways of learning.
No one deserves to be left behind but it is forced because they said it is what we need. The higher ones proudly say they won against COVID-19 despite the fact many committed a mortal sin and many suffered in various incidents trying to adjust to the new normal. I, myself, a student mourns for this victory. Adjusting to the new normal is another struggle for us students. Helping one another is our only hope of survival. A song of a known band once said

"Balikan kung bakit ka nagsimula
bago mo sabihin na ayaw mo na.
Huwag mong sosolohin di ka mag-isa.
Ikaw parin ang susi sa pinto ng iyong tadhana."

  1. Hello Khloe, I agree that nobody should be left behind especially in times like this. I love how you stated that education nowadays became more of a privilege rather than a right. I also love your theme since it is pleasing to the eyes and it really grabs the attention of the readers. Good Job!
